Fiscal Responsibility

The Scituate Selectboard must make thoughtful and transparent decisions that prioritize the long-term financial health of the town. It involves careful budgeting, ensuring taxpayer dollars are spent efficiently, and investing in essential services while avoiding unnecessary debt.

Through her experience as a legislator and a small business owner, Maryanne knows how to streamline services, identify inefficiencies and plan a sustainable and affordable future for residents.

Protecting Our Coastline

Coastal resilience will be one of Maryanne’s top priorities. As someone who lives in a flood zone, she understands firsthand the impacts of rising sea levels and severe storms. She also knows that Scituate’s coastline is a vital part of our local economy and identity.

Protecting our coastline for future generations requires action rooted in the best available maritime science, addressing erosion in critical areas and making investments to combat sea level rise.

Supporting Seniors

Scituate needs to do more to help our seniors remain in the town they call home. Retirees on fixed incomes are hit the hardest by property tax increases and Maryanne will work to expand their options for tax relief or deferment.

As a member of the Scituate Housing Authority, Maryanne worked to advance senior housing initiatives in Scituate by supporting the development of housing that meets the needs of older residents who want to age in place. She worked collaboratively with town officials and local committees on ensuring that seniors can remain active, independent members of the community without being priced out of Scituate.

Improving Our Infrastructure

Scituate needs to make smart, cost-effective investments in our infrastructure to support both current residents and future growth. This means more than just maintaining roads and sidewalks—it also includes expanding sewer access, modernizing our water systems, and continuing to tackle long-standing issues like brown water. Reliable infrastructure is essential for public health, safety, and quality of life.

There is significant state and federal funding available for these kinds of projects, and Maryanne will work tirelessly to ensure Scituate secures our fair share. She’ll bring the experience and determination needed to advocate for grants, partner with regional and state agencies, and make sure taxpayer dollars are spent efficiently and strategically.

Exceptional Public Schools

As a mother of two adult sons, Maryanne knows the importance of a great education in preparing children for success. Every Scituate student should have a quality public education, whether they plan on attending college or pursuing a career in the trades.

Maryanne supports fully funding our public schools and will work with our state and federal lawmakers to get Scituate our fair share of funding. She will encourage Scituate’s public schools to work with local businesses and labor unions to create opportunities for high school seniors to explore different careers.

Public Safety

Public safety is one of the highest priorities of any government. During her time as a State Representative, Maryanne was a steadfast supporter of police officers and firefighters. In 2002, she was named Legislator of the Year by the Massachusetts Police Association.

As a Selectboard member, Maryanne will make sure our police officers and firefighters have the best equipment and training. She will work with first responders on emergency preparedness and disaster relief.
